Overview
Covering an area of about 170 km², the Baishuizhai Scenic Area is located in Paitan town, Zengcheng district, Guangzhou, Guangdong province. Situated along the Tropic of Cancer, it is celebrated as a "Radiant Emerald on the Tropic of Cancer." This mountain-style scenic area boasts towering peaks and dramatic landscapes, with nine peaks rising above 1,000 meters. The highest, Niuguzhang Peak, reaches 1,088 meters above sea level.
The area is renowned for its majestic, rugged, and picturesque terrain, blending grandeur, uniqueness, danger, and charm. Baishuizhai Scenic Area is home to rare natural ecological resources, including virgin forests, shallow wetlands, and canyon sky pools. Among its highlights is the Bai Shui Xian Waterfall, one of the tallest waterfalls in Chinese mainland, with a vertical drop of 428.5 meters. The area is also a haven for fresh air, with negative ion concentrations reaching an impressive 112,500/cm³, the highest among scenic spots in Guangdong.

Baishui Fairy Waterfall
Perched on Baishui Mountain, Bai Shui Xian Waterfall stands as the centerpiece of the scenic area. With a height of 428.5 meters, it holds the title of the tallest waterfall in China. The waterfall’s elegant shape and mystical aura have inspired legends, including its association with He Xiangu, one of the Eight Immortals in Chinese mythology.
Waterside Boardwalk
The scenic waterside boardwalk offers an immersive experience for visitors. Built along a creek and leading into a deep valley, the pathway is shaded by lush greenery. Strolling along the boardwalk, visitors are enveloped by fresh air, gentle mountain breezes, and warm sunlight, accompanied by the soothing sounds of flowing water and verdant mountain views.
Tian Nan First Ladder
Known as the "Tian Nan First Ladder," the area features a 9,999-step mountain trail stretching 6.6 kilometers. The trail traverses three mountains, connecting two sky pools and offering breathtaking views along the way. Its scale and design make it a remarkable attraction for hiking enthusiasts and nature lovers.
